“THE much-anticipated Islamic Fashion Festival (IFF) is back for its sixth year.
The highlight of this event, which presents the latest trends in Muslim attire, will be fashion showcases from Nov 24 to Nov 27 to at the JW Marriott Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
This year, 44 designers from five countries will present 1,000 captivating designs.
Celebrated Malaysian designers like Datuk Bernard Chandran, Datuk Tom Abang Saufi and Melinda Looi will share the stage with designers from Indonesia, India, Pakistan and the Philippines.
Held under the patronage of Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of the Deputy Prime Minister, proceeds from this year’s event will be channelled towards nine charitable organisations.
“Besides showcasing Islamic attire, IFF reveals the beauty of Islam and how fashion can unite cultures and nations,” said Datuk Raja Rezza Shah, chairman and founder of IFF.
IFF is a global event to promote Islamic fashion as stylish without compromising on the modesty required of the Muslim dress code.
It also aims to promote Malaysia as a hub for Islamic fashion and foster closer ties among neighbouring Islamic nations.
The designs showcased in IFF offer a variety of apparel suitable for recreation, prayer and evening wear.
This year, IFF will also include an Islamic Attire Workshop on Saturday at the hotel. Speakers include veteran actress Noorkumalasari.
Another highlight will be the Young Designer Award. The competition, which was launched in July this year, will see eight finalists competing for the coveted title on Nov 26.
“It’s a pleasure to see that our finalists are from different races. IFF is not just about fashion but also about showing people what Malaysia is really about,” said Raja Rezza.”
